At the opposite side of the courtyard from the Farmhouse are the old stables, converted into a comfortable two bedded self catering cottage sleeping four people. To take advantage of the view of the fields and valley, it is an 'upside down' house with living area upstairs (stair gate installed).

Ground Floor

Entrance hall with old slate floor, large double bedded room, smaller twin bedded room, and bathroom with W.C., basin, shower in the bath, and combination washing machine/tumble drier. All rooms have the original large old beams, pine floors and natural wood finishes.

First Floor

Up the oak stairs the remainder of the Stables is open plan. The living area faces south with views of the fields and Devon countryside, and has a wood burning stove, sofa and easy chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped, with pine table and dresser, and has hand painted tiles above the worktop. Between kitchen and living area is a pine dining table with chairs.

Services and Equipment

Oil fired central heating (free of charge), colour T.V., video, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine / tumble drier, dishwasher, carry cot, high chair and various other little gadgets. Bed linen is included in the price, but not towels.

Outside there is parking space and a patio area with chairs and table, and a barbeque is available. A tree lined old drover's path leads to open fields recently planted with new oaks, ashes and cherries. A further private paved patio area is also available up some steps to the rear.

The Stables are available throughot the year, and ettings are from Friday to Friday. Short breaks are available out of season.

There are several dog friendly beaches in the area, and one well behaved dog is welcome in The Byre and The Stables for a charge of £20 per week.

Prize Winning Sheep

"Ali" has a beautiful fine fleece and won first prize at the Mid-Devon Show for Best Shetland Ewe. After producing Dickie and Dastardly in 1994 she is now retired and loves to be fed from the bucket. We have exported our fleeces to Japan, which we are quite proud about, though unfortunately not a very profitable exercise! More about the farm...
