The Perfect Rural Hideaway

AA 4 star self catering Lower Collaton Farm is a traditional old Devonshire farmhouse, dating back to Domesday and before, nestled in the valley of the River Gara. Set in the heart of peaceful countryside it is surrounded by rolling hills where sheep and cattle graze. It is a small working sheep farm with hens and ducks running in the courtyard. Perfectly placed in the heart of the South Hams, Lower Collaton is just six miles from the coast, and under twenty minutes from Dartmouth, Totnes and Kingsbridge, as long as you're not stuck behind a tractor! The gardens of Agatha Christie's Greenaway on the River Dart and the D'Oyle Carte's Collaton Fishacre (both National Trust) are close by. Walkers can trek from Collaton or take a short drive to Dartmoor or the South Devon Coastal Path.

View of the fields

Following the addition of our largest self catering cottage, The Byre, and more importantly the arrival of our first two grandchildren, Evie and Sam, we have decided to retire from Bed & Breakfast so we are sorry to inform you that B&B is no longer available at Lower Collaton Farm. We will of course be honouring existing reservations made for this summer!

The Stables, which sleeps four (double and twin bedrooms), has loads of character with the original large old beams exposed in all rooms. It is an "upside down" house to take advantage of the views down the valley. Vacancies 10th & 17th September.

The Old Granary is a perfectly delightful little cottage for two, tucked into the corner of the grassy courtyard. An ideal base for walkers and birdwatchers, or indeed a cosy love-nest for the romantically inclined! Winter Short Breaks are available. Vacancies 23rd July, 20th & 27th August.

The Byre is a comfortable and spacious converted barn newly available for 2010, with three double bedrooms (one double, two twin), all of them en suite, a fully equipped kitchen, and a large living room with large sofas, exposed stonework, scissor beams, and an oak dining table with chairs at the kitchen end. Vacancies weeks commencing 3rd & 10th September.
